Southeast Portland Neighborhoods
An overview of some of the more popular Southeast Portland neighborhoods:
Hawthorne
The Hawthorne District on Hawthorne Avenue is home to dozens of small boutique shops and smaller retail stores. Funky coffee shops, locally-owned restaurants and boutiques, and great used clothing stores. With its laid-back culture, casual restaurants and brewpubs, Hawthorne is always bustling with foot traffic and bicyclists.
Laurelhurst
Bordering Northeast and Southeast Portland, Laurelhurst is home to one of Portland’s favorite parks (Laurelhurst Park). Laurelhurst boasts tree-lined streets, old character homes with hardwood floors, and old PDX architecture. Laurelhurst is one of Portland's most desirable neighborhoods with plenty of local options for eating out, entertainment, and shopping. In addition, Laurelhurst Park is one Portland’s most popular places to spend an afternoon.
Sellwood / Moreland
Sellwood and Moreland neighborhoods feature older East Portland homes that have been well maintained and updated. You’ll find architectural styles including Victorians, cottages, and many gorgeous Craftsman bungalows. The streets are quiet, and lined with mature trees. This is a great family neighborhood where people hang out at the coffee shops on the weekend. The community features many locally owned shops, restaurants, an array of antique shops.
