An overview of some of the more popular Southwest Portland neighborhoods:
SW Waterfront
On 38 acres of Portland’s riverfront property, The River Blocks at South Waterfront represents the next phase in Portland’s evolution as one of the most livable cities in the nation, seamlessly blending city life with access to nature. Developed in part by the team that helped create Portland’s most popular and fastest-growing urban neighborhoods, the Pearl District and Brewery Blocks, The River Blocks will offer the best that Portland has to offer: convenient access to transportation, Portland’s best restaurants, theaters, museums and shopping, as well as the relaxation and recreation opportunities of the Willamette River. A public/private partnership between the developers, the City of Portland, the Portland Development Commission and Oregon Health & Science University, The River Blocks is slated to be complete by 2010 and have a $1.9 billion value at full build out.
Dunthorpe
Dunthorpe is just minutes from coveted Lake Oswego, and 5 miles from downtown Portland. Dunthorpe is known for it’s beautiful estates and properties. Homes in the Dunthorpe neighborhood are highly desirable. Surrounded by Tryon Creek Park on one side and the Willamette River on the other, Dunthorpe is one of Portland’s most exclusive neighborhoods.
Multnomah Village
Multnomah Village is a charming area with a small-town community feel. This quaint area is located in Southwest Portland, but is still a fairly easy commute to Downtown Portland. Here you will find streets lined with unique gift and antique shops, cafes, a wine shop, an independent music store, art galleries, coffee shops, and more. This is a great place to take a stroll, especially during the holidays, as the village feel will make you feel as though you have been transported back to a simpler time. Multnomah Village is home to a couple dozen boutique shops and mom & pop retail stores. Among them are Annie Blooms Books, Luck Lab Brew Pub, Marcos Cafe and Village Coffee to name a few.
